The Good Shepherd Tabernacle

Fundraising Dinner Served to The Good Shepherd Tabernacle
September 9, 2017

Brethren,

The Fellowcraft Club provided and served dinner this past Saturday to the Good Shepherd Tabernacle. The dinner served received many compliments. We were light with help when Bro T. Mott came in to help. Bro Mott recently had surgery and is recovering but came to help anyway. Then, Bro K. Rhodes walked in bringing the troops from the GOW School. These young men eagerly served the dinner and bused the tables. Many members from the Tabernacle were curious who these polite young men were. Bro Rhodes spent a couple of minutes talking to the guests about the GOW School and the men he brought. It was a fun and easy evening.

Dinner served:
Appetizer: Cheese and cracker platter with mini sausages in a zesty sauce.
Main Entrée: Marinated chicken breast along with scalloped potatoes and peas.

Thanks to those who came and supported the lodge.

We sincerely thank the Good Shepherd Tabernacle for continuing to put their trust in us for their dinners.  All money raised by the Blazing Star Lodge #694 F&AM is used to fund the Fellowcraft Club’s charitable works and organizations.  If interested in booking our banquet room for your group’s next function please view our menu and contact us.

Br. G. Wayne Hawk

Brethren –

It is my sad duty to report on the death of Br. G. Wayne Hawk, who put down the working tools on August 27, 2017, at age 89.

We just learned of his passing yesterday, so there will not be a request for a Masonic funeral. His obituary notice is reprinted below.

HAWK – G. Wayne
August 27, 2017, of East Aurora, NY. Beloved husband of Charline “Bunkie”. Dearest father of George Jr. (Carolyn), David and John (Colleen) Hawk. Cherished grandfather of Casey, Maeve, Claire and Gavin Hawk. Dear brother of the late Betty Jane Brown. Also survived by 1 niece and 2 nephews. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 5-8 PM at the WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 784 Main Street, East Aurora, NY. Funeral services will be held at Nativity Lutheran Church, East Aurora on Saturday at 11:00 AM. If desired contributions may be made to HospiceBuffalo, Inc. “Most glorious God! author of all good and giver of all mercy! pour down Thy blessings upon us, and strengthen our solemn engagements with the ties of sincere affection! May the present instance of mortality remind us of our approaching fate, and draw our attention toward Thee, the only refuge in time of need! that, when the awful moment shall arrive, that we are about to quit this transitory scene, the enlivening prospect of Thy mercy may dispel the gloom of death; and after our departure hence in peace, and in Thy favor, may we be received into Thine everlasting kingdom, to enjoy, in union with the souls of our departed friends, the just reward of a pious and virtuous life. Amen.”

From NYS Grand Master

My Brothers,

The autumn season is approaching and so is our traditional end of summer holiday. This also is the time that the officers and brothers of our lodges plan their trestle boards for the ensuing year. Let us pause to appreciate all that our working people have contributed to our society. All of us look forward to the new Masonic Year with all the importance and enjoyment that will come along.

This year, the end of September also brings the New Year to our Jewish brothers and families. “La Shona Tovah” to all them. May they all be inscribed in the Book of Life (as well as all our brothers and their families).

I am proud and pleased to wish all our brethren and their families a hearty Happy Labor Day, and best wishes for the coming Autumn season. My wife Carla, Deputy Grand Master RW William Sardone and his wife Nancy, and the entire elected and appointed members of the Grand Line and their ladies are all pleased to join me in this greeting.

This year we have an almost unique situation. As all our brothers know all too well, brothers, sisters, family, and friends in South Texas have endured massive flooding, with many homes and lives totally destroyed. The Grand Lodge of Texas has requested financial help to assist our Brothers and their families who have been injured or received extensive damage to their homes from Hurricane Harvey. We remember all too well when our brothers endured Hurricane Sandy, and the help we received from brothers all over the country. It’s just fair that we now reciprocate and I have set up a special section of the Masonic Brotherhood Fund for this purpose. For your ease and convenience, we have established a special tab on the main page of our Grand Lodge Website (www.nymasons.org). I urge all brothers to help out.

In addition, let us implore the Great Architect of the Universe to protect the members of our Armed Forces and First Responders as they are protecting us, wherever in the world they may be serving. May He bring them back home and out of harm’s way to their families and friends!

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Jeffrey M. Williamson
